How Trumpcare will Negatively Impact Our Seniors

Old is said to be gold but it brings with it an unprecedented burden to the health of an individual. For instance, age comes along with a weak immune system that paves the way for health issues like arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory diseases, and osteoporosis, among other opportunistic health conditions. Based on these factors, the elderly population makes a majority of healthcare consumers.

Before the affordable care act, also known as Obamacare, was passed, one-third of families spent 10% of their household expenditure caring for senior citizens. Later on, the federal government introduced the affordable care act as a way to relieve families from the financial-health burden.

However, are you informed that the short-lived financial-health burden relief might end as the Trumpcare Reform takes effect? With President J Donald's Healthcare reform proposal, also branded as Trump-Care, the government will focus on the healthcare needs of people aged below 65 years, leaving out the senior citizens aged above 65 years. Furthermore, Trumpcare puts more emphasis on individual care and family care.

What is Trumpcare?

Trumpcare is a health reform that has been endorsed by President Donald Trump. The proposed reform is expected to repeal and replace the Obamacare, which has been in existence since Barrack Obama, the former US president was elected.

The Trumpcare reform is postulated to cut down the medical expenses and stabilize the health insurance marketplace. Despite the fact that Trumpcare aims to reduce the cost of health coverage, health and insurance experts argue that the new reform is likely to bring more harm than good. As a result, the reforms future has been deemed to be rather uncertain.

Who will be affected by Trumpcare?

Statistics from the Congressional Budget Office reveal that more than 14 million people will not have a health insurance come 2018. Furthermore, the reports indicate that the number of un-insured citizens are likely to increase by 10 million more people by the end of 2026.

Other reliable statistics show that Trumpcare will primarily affect US citizens from low economic backgrounds. Most of these citizens are the elderly aged above 65 years, more so the senior citizens living alone.
